Palatine patients are about ten minutes from my office, depending on which part of the village you start from. From downtown Palatine and the Metra station, the fastest route is south on Quentin Road, west on Algonquin, and a quick jog on Barrington Road. From the south end near Twin Lakes, you can take Hicks Road or Plum Grove Road south. Either way, you do not have to fight Route 53 traffic to see a pain doctor.
I am Dr. Keith Schmidt, MD, triple board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. My office is at 1555 Barrington Road, DOB 3, Suite 2400 in Hoffman Estates, and I have been treating Palatine patients for years.
Why Palatine patients choose this practice
Palatine is one of the more diverse suburbs around — Harper College students, longtime Inverness-area homeowners, families near Deer Grove forest preserve, and a strong commuter community. Every group brings a different pain story. Active forest-preserve walkers come in with knee osteoarthritis. Commuters come in with low back pain from the daily train ride and desk hours. Older patients come in with vertebral compression fractures or spinal stenosis they were told they had to live with. They do not.

Frequently asked questions from Palatine patients
How far is your office from Palatine?
About 10 minutes from downtown Palatine, sometimes faster. The trip is residential roads most of the way, not highway.
Do you see Palatine patients with workers’ compensation cases?
Yes. Many Palatine patients work in the corporate corridors along Algonquin and Northwest Highway, and work-related neck and back injuries are common in the practice.
I have an MRI from another doctor. Should I bring it?
Always bring imaging if you have it — on a CD, USB, or in a patient portal we can access. It saves you another scan and helps me give you a real plan on the first visit.
Are walk-ins available?
We are appointment-based for new patients, but same-week appointments open up regularly. Established patients with acute flare-ups can sometimes be seen the same day. Call and ask.
