Inverness patients are about eight minutes from my office at 1555 Barrington Road in Hoffman Estates. From most of Inverness — whether you are near the Inverness Country Club, off Roselle Road, or up by Palatine Road — the route is short: a few minutes south or east to Barrington Road, then a straight run to the Doctors Office Building.

I am Dr. Keith Schmidt, MD, triple board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Why Inverness patients choose this practice

Inverness has a distinctive mix of patients — equestrian families with the cumulative joint and back wear that comes from decades of riding, longtime homeowners on large properties who keep up the land themselves, and active retirees who refuse to give up tennis, golf, or running. The common thread is patients who want their bodies back, not just managed.

That maps directly to the practice. I am an Ironman triathlete and a pain physician, and the patients who tell me what they actually want to do — not just what they want to stop hurting — get the most out of my approach.

Frequently asked questions from Inverness patients

I want to stay active — riding, golf, running. Will I have to stop?

Not as a starting assumption. The whole point of interventional pain medicine is to get you back to the activities that matter. We will be honest about what is and is not safe, but the plan is built around what you want to be doing in six months, not just what you want to stop hurting today.

I have already seen orthopedic and physical therapy. What is different here?

I do interventional procedures that target the pain source itself — spinal cord stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, image-guided epidurals, genicular nerve ablation for knee. These are usually the next step when conservative care has not solved it.

Are first visits virtual?

First visits are in-person. We need to examine you and review imaging together. Follow-up visits can sometimes be virtual when appropriate.
