If you live in Hoffman Estates and you are looking for a pain management doctor close to home, my office is in the Doctors Office Building (DOB 3) at 1555 Barrington Road, DOB 3, Suite 2400 — across from St. Alexius Medical Center, just south of Higgins Road. I see Hoffman Estates patients every day. This is my home practice.

I am Dr. Keith Schmidt, MD, triple board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. I focus on interventional pain medicine — finding the source of your pain and treating it with image-guided procedures rather than relying on long-term medication.

Why Hoffman Estates patients choose this practice

Hoffman Estates patients tell me three things consistently. First, they want a doctor who lives and works in the community — not someone they have to drive into the city to see. Second, they want a clear plan instead of an open prescription. Third, they want to keep doing the things that matter to them, whether that is golfing at Poplar Creek, walking around Now Arena events, or keeping up with grandkids at Vogelei Park.

That is the practice I built. Office a few minutes from the Sears Centre / Now Arena, full diagnostic workup on the first visit, and a treatment plan that aims at durable relief.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?

It depends on your insurance plan. Many PPO plans do not require a referral. HMO plans usually do. Call us with your insurance card and we will check before your first visit.

Will I have to take opioids?

For most patients, no. The whole point of interventional pain medicine is to fix the source of the pain so you do not need long-term opioids. Where they are clinically appropriate, I prescribe them carefully and with a clear plan.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your insurance card, a photo ID, a list of every medication you currently take, and any recent imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray) or reports related to the pain. If you have records on a CD, bring it. If they are at another office, give us the name and we will request them.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

New patient appointments are typically available within one to two weeks. Same-week appointments open up regularly — call and ask.
